About Nirvana Farms
Cultivating Life, From Soil to Soul.
Welcome to Nirvana Farms! I’m Beena, and together with my husband Dev—who, if we’re being completely honest, is the one out there doing the heavy lifting and turning all these wild ideas into reality—we are building something truly special here on our 10 acres in the Odisha countryside.
Why We Choose to Go Organic
We chose the organic route because, to us, there simply wasn’t any other way. Farming with chemicals and pesticides was never even on the table. It isn’t just a conscious or emotional decision—we are genuinely radical about it. Instead of stripping the land for quick yields, our entire goal is to rebuild it using natural amendments like black rice husk ash.
A Living, Breathing Community
When you step onto the farm, you aren’t just looking at neat rows of crops; you’re looking at a connected community of life that stretches across our expanding fields.
- The Flocks: Our free-ranging heritage chickens—like our Brahmas, Silkies, and Bantams—roam the land.
- The Waters: Our main 1-acre fish pond is a thriving aquatic world of its own, while our isolated, spring-fed wild pond provides a safe haven for the ducks to forage among the Azolla.
- The Buzz: Our 10 Apis cerana hives are always busy pollinating the fields and producing honey.
Our Pack
Of course, Nirvana Farms wouldn’t be complete without our four-legged family members. Our Kangals, Vali and Tara, along with our German Shepherd, Milo, are always on duty, keeping a watchful eye over the fields, the flocks, and the two of us.
